I've learned this the hard way: if you're a reporter and you come across something interesting online that you might use in a story -- social media, whatever -- save it as a PDF or screenshot it IMMEDIATELY and label it or describe it well. Evernote is great for this.
Luckily, I saved the original article in Vanguard Law Magazine about @MTX_In. The description of MTX as a "$10 million company" is now gone, along w/ "150 employees in India," & "new foreign employees" & "H-1B visa applications." No mention of India at all now. Hmm.
Wow when @jblackmanChron and I wrote about @MTX_Inc, which got a $295m TX coronavirus contract, we linked to a Vanguard Law Magazine piece to establish its small number of US based employees and large presence in India. Now all that's gone from the piece! vanguardlawmag.com/case-studies/j…

Interesting backstory here: I tried repeatedly to get @GregAbbott_TX to discuss his '84 lawsuit settlement, to no avail. Then one day a copy of the settlement was mailed to me in an unmarked envelope. I got an exclusive interview the next day. texastribune.org/2013/08/02/gre…

A poignant quote here from @GregAbbott_TX about the lawsuit settlement he got after suing a homeowner whose tree fell on him and left him paralyzed in ‘84: https://t.co/ioEiSC7dZK
During the 2014 Texas governor’s race @GregAbbott_TX spoke to me for the first (and as far as I know ONLY) time about the details of the lawsuit settlement — over the freak accident that paralyzed him — that guarantees him a 6-figure income for life texastribune.org/2013/08/02/gre…
This story of mine you referenced doesn’t say @GregAbbott_TX’s ‘84 lawsuit against a River Oaks homeowner (whose tree fell on him) involved medical malpractice. It does quote an expert about the $6m settlement: “It would be harder to get that type of award today.” #transparency twitter.com/granitewinger/…
RT @edlavaCNN: I'd also bring a fan, an ice chest of water and a kiddie pool so you don't melt in the Houston heat.
Partisans on both sides often don’t present facts objectively. So nearly a half a century later, here is an objective look at @GregAbbott_TX’s lawsuit over the tree that fell on him in ‘84 — and whether someone today could get a similar ($6m) deal texastribune.org/2013/08/04/can… twitter.com/granitewinger/…
