At @AustinISD board mtg. Looks like about 20 parents here; some from @Peasebobcats are wearing matching shirts and holding signs to support their campus, which is one of 12 proposed for closure under the district's multiyear "school changes" plan

There's no public comment at tonight's @AustinISD mtg, as it was scheduled as an "information session." Administrators will present board an overview of proposed 40 scenarios, which include revamping admissions to #AISD's prized magnet programs, including @lasahighschool

More @AustinISD parents have trickled in. I'm guessing about 40 now. Administrators are about to kick off a powerpoint and overview of their "school changes" plan, which includes shuttering 12 schools. There are about 40 scenarios in the multiyear plan #aisd

After the @ManorISD board approved keeping @royce_dr through June 30, Trustee Ana Cortes made a motion to suspend Avery without pay for the rest of the year.
Before the contract vote, @ManorISD Trustee Monique Celedon said, “I came in here undecided, and I want the community to know I do support Dr. Avery and all he’s done for the district… I’m tired of the fighting that’s going on in our district… I want us to be united as one.”
So the @ManorISD secretary to the board clarified that the vote just officially asks @royce_dr to continue his current contract. No changes to the contract
Clarification, the @ManorISD vote was to extend @royce_dr contract to June 2020, rather than create a new one. Seeking clarification on what the change is because his existing contract already went through June 30
Breakdown of the @ManorISD board vote to create new contract with Avery: Trustees Sam Samaripa, Temeika Thomas, Janie Serna & Monique Celedon voted for it

board President Elmer Fischer & Trustees Ana Cortez & Joseph Velasco voted against the new contract
The @ManorISD just voted 4-3 to create a new contract for Supt @royce_dr Avery that will run through June 2020. Loud applause from people in the room.
The @ManorISD board is now emerging from their closed door session

The @ManorISD board has now gone into executive session where they will discuss Supt Avery’s contract & whether to extend it, or possibly fire him
Several people are saying that @ManorISD Supt Dr. Avery needs to stay at the district because a bond election is coming up. “We need continuity in leadership,” said DeAnna Smith, who works in the Manor ISD central office of communication
Three people have spoken at the @ManorISD board mtg so far, calling on the board to renew Dr. Avery’s contract. One of those asking them to do so is Dan Vera, who is the director of HR at Manor ISD
